Songs of the Heart

Look At Me From Heaven

Verse:

Daddy, I remember when you were so strong
I looked up to you with love, wonder and awe.
Nothing you would do could ever be wrong
I was your little girl held in your arms

Verse:

Growing up I learned life’s lessons from you
You built up my confidence, taught me wisdom and truth
I put you on my pedestal, you were my hero, my dad!
Oh why would God hurt you? It made me so sad.

Chorus:

Look at me from Heaven, daddy
Please guide me on my way
I believe that you can see me
Help me each and every day
I will always love you, daddy
I’ll never cease to be your child
God came and took you from me
But I trust Him all the while
In His love, He released you from your trial.

Verse:

Your mind became old, feeble and confused
This tragic illness is all over the news
No one knows why this could happen to you
Our minds are still a mystery, we’re searching for truth.

Chorus:

Look at me from Heaven, daddy
Please guide me on my way
I believe that you can see me
Help me each and every day
I will always love you, daddy
I’ll never cease to be your child
God came and took you from me
But I trust Him all the while
In His love, He released you from your trial.

Love’s Last Word

Verse:

I remember how you looked at me when we first met
How you spoke to me with tender love and gentleness,
Touched me with your sweet caress
As you helped me to undress
And we’d make love all through the night
Until the shadows break with the first morning light

Verse:

I took you for granted without cherishing our love.
Counted on your faithfulness, and failed to do my part
Neglected your needs and ignored your heart
Could not imagine you’d ever depart.
Aching here with loneliness since we’re apart.

Chorus:

Just give me one more chance to make it up to you
My heart is in agony, it’s broken in two
I’m wanting you to love me the way you used to do
Just one sign, just one word, a small token
that Love’s last word hasn ‘t yet been spoken

Verse:

Temptations come and go and sometimes we’re not that strong
Sometimes when we love someone we still can do them wrong
I believe in forgiveness
I have said that all along
Come on let’s press reset again
Because starting over is better than the end.

Chorus:

Just give me one more chance to make it up to you
My heart is in agony, it’s broken in two
I’m wanting you to love me the way you used to do
Just one sign, just one word, a small token
that Love’s last word hasn ‘t yet been spoken

I’ll Just Give ‘Em Love (All Wrapped Up)

Verse 1:

Shared my heart with my “closest” friends
They didn’t even spend three minutes to listen to my song
Seems their not really my true friends at all
I’m not gonna hold grudges
Though I’m sad and disappointed
They didn’t even respond to my prompts and nudges

Chorus:

Everybody’s all wrapped up in their own stuff
People ‘re busy playing at their own game
Nobody pays no nevermind
Just focused on themselves
And they don’t give anybody any of their time
What happened to this world?
It used to be kind

Verse 2:

So whatta ‘m gonna do? Do I turn the other cheek?
Give ‘em some more time? Wait another week?
Do I turn away and dump them and find some other friends?
If everyone’s like this, it don’t matter in the end.

Chorus:

Everybody’s all wrapped up in their own stuff
People ‘re busy playing at their own game
Nobody pays no nevermind
Just focused on themselves
And they don’t give anybody any of their time
What happened to this world?
It used to be kind

Verse 3:

I shouldn’t be pessimistic, I start to tell myself
People, they’re just people, not gonna lose my confidence
No one’s perfect, ‘cept the Lord above
So I’ll make the choice, won’t raise my voice,
I’ll just give ‘em love.

Chorus:

Everybody’s all wrapped up in their own stuff
People ‘re busy playing at their own game
Nobody pays no nevermind
Just focused on themselves
And they don’t give anybody any of their time
What happened to this world?
It used to be kind

Prisoner of War

Verse: 1

The excitement is rising
Passion’s heaving in my chest
My mind is racing
It’s got nowhere it rest
You’re driving me crazy
I want you all for myself
Right here with you dancing
Wearing your silky green dress

Verse 2:

You got me on your radar
You have me as your target
Fix me in the crosshairs
Like a short range sniper
Taking aim at my heart
With sweet bullets of your charms
You blow my pride apart
Leave me helpless in your arms.

Chorus:

Bring it On!
Make it strong!
I don’t wanna resist your powerful love
I’m at your mercy, your own prisoner of war!

Verse 3:

I’m captive to your beauty
Your long red hair, siren’s smile
Your eyes mesmerize me
Your lips so full and wide
You torture and tease me
And there’s no place I can hide
You’ve got my full surrender
You’ve won me to your side.

Chorus:

Bring it On!
Make it strong!
I don’t wanna resist your powerful love
I’m at your mercy, your own prisoner of war!

Love’s Supposed To Be Strong

Chorus:

Oh it hurts, hurts, hurts
How did this happen to us?
Where did things go wrong?
Loves’ supposed to be strong
And endure lifelong

Verse 1:

We started out with such confidence
It all made sense
Our love was strong , we’d built up no defence
We were vulnerable, open, honest and giving
Forgetting ourselves and for each other living.

Verse 2:

Beautiful babies, fruit of our love
Heaven sent gifts from above
Forgetting ourselves, living for them
Giving our all at the job and the home
Exhausted and worn to the bone

Chorus:

Oh it hurts, hurts, hurts
How did this happen to us?
Where did things go wrong?
Loves’ supposed to be strong
And endure lifelong

Verse: 3

When did the fighting start?
Our words become like poisonous darts?
We used to be lovers, we used to be best friends
Has our love really come to an end?
Is there no way for us to start again?

Chorus:

Oh it hurts, hurts, hurts
How did this happen to us?
Where did things go wrong?
Loves’ supposed to be strong
And endure lifelong

Bridge:

I wish you only well
No hard feelings now
I’ll be the one to tell
The kids will make it somehow

Chorus:

Oh it hurts, hurts, hurts
How did this happen to us?
Where did things go wrong?
Loves’ supposed to be strong
And endure lifelong

Don’t try to stop me

Verse one:

Hid my bag under my bed
Can’t sleep with these thoughts in my head.
Just past midnight when I said,
The moment’s come, I gotta run
I grabbed my things and fled

Chorus:

Don’t try to stop me
Gotta do what I gotta do
Don’t try to stop me
Gonna be one of the few
I’m gonna make it

Verse two

Heard the screen door squeak and creak
Ran as fast as I could to the end of the street
Caught my breath, slowed my steps
Said out loud to myself,
I’m gonna make it

Chorus:

Don’t try to stop me
Gotta do what I gotta do
Don’t try to stop me
Gonna be one of the few
I’m gonna make it

Verse three

Bus to Nashville leaves at five,
Long night lying on the floor
Laying my head on my guitar
Staring at the ceiling and the walls
I’m gonna make it

Chorus:

Don’t try to stop me
Gotta do what I gotta do
Don’t try to stop me
Gonna be one of the few
I’m gonna make it

Verse four

Rolling down Highway 65
My dream appears before my eyes
I’m scared, but excited, my day has arrived.
At least I gotta try
I’m gonna make it

Chorus:

Don’t try to stop me
Gotta do what I gotta do
Don’t try to stop me
Gonna be one of the few
I’m gonna make!

Bridge:

Can’t let my vision die
Will stop at nothin’,
I’m so high
I believe in myself
I’m gonna fly

Final chorus:

Don’t try to stop me
Gotta do what I gotta do
Don’t try to stop me
Gonna be one of the few.
I’m gonna make it!

Sunk in routine duties ‘til we drown
Life’s burdens weigh us down

Until the break of morning light

We’ve got to light the fire
We’ve got to stir the embers
We’ve got to look way back and remember

Let’s return to our first love.

Let Us in

Verse:

We left our homes and countries,
Seeking freedom‘s glory
Crossing land and sea for liberty.
This is our common story,
Fleeing wars, escaping poverty
If you only knew the darkness we’ve seen
You’d open up your hearts
To let us in.

Chorus:

Let us in to your hearts
As we come to your shores
Let us share our lives with yours.
Fear not our foreign names
For our hopes are just the same

Let us in
Let us in
Let us in

Verse:

We bring our skill and labor
We can be friends and neighbors
Let us sow and plant together,
So this land can thrive much better
Harvesting love and charity,
The sweet fruit of welcoming
So open up your hearts
And let us in.

Chorus:

Let us in to your hearts
As we come to your shores
Let us share our lives with yours.
Fear not our foreign names
For our hopes are just the same

Let us in
Let us in
Let us in

Bridge:

America, you’re beautiful!
A tapestry of nations
Woven with your love and boundless patience

We come to you, poor, tired masses!
Yearning to live and breathe free
You lift us out from the dirt and ashes.

Chorus:

Let us in to your hearts
As we come to your shores
Let us share our lives with yours.
Fear not our foreign names
For our hopes are just the same

Let us in
Let us in
Let us in

We all have this Song

VERSE
I can’t sing like Whitney
I can’t dance like Michael
I can’t sway like Elvis
I can’t play like Hendrix
I can’t drum like Ringo
I can’t strum like B.B.

CHORUS
But deep in my heart, there is a song
And before long, you’ll be singing with me
Because we all have a song
It’s in the same key
And together we’ll sing in full harmony.

BRIDGE
As our hearts beat as one
To this melodious song
Then the rhythm we share
Will make each one belong.

VERSE
If we come together
And behave like brothers
If we stop our warfare
And embrace each other
Then we’ll dance forever
To the song of heaven.

CHORUS
‘Cause deep in our hearts, there is a song
and before long, you’ll be singing with me
Because we all have a song
It’s in the same key
And together we’ll sing in full harmony.

BRIDGE
As our hearts beat as one
To this melodious song
Then the rhythm we share
Will make each one belong.

VERSE
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la

CHORUS:
Now deep in our hearts, there is a song
And before long, you’ll be singing with me
Because we all have a song
It’s in the same key
And together we’ll sing in full harmony.

Winter’s Sign

winter

Snow as whispers drift,
Unto boughs of evergreens.
A cold and tender kiss upon silent lips, –
an icy nip.

And Winter’s frosty hand
fondles sky and dormant land;
a bitter caress, with frozen breath,
she hushes still, valleys and hills,
lulling the earth to sleep,
to dream of Spring.

Winter, like the night,
Is a sign for our own lives, –
a sign to edify,
That what seems to die,
will come alive.

As warmth and light return,
when the Spring sun hears the earth;
then is rebirth,
renewal and growth,
seedlings will sprout,
flowers come out,
life starts anew:
a sign of Truth for you.

Come Dance With Me

dancewithme1

Hear the music
Feel my heartbeat
Look into my eyes
See how I love you tonight

Will this love song
Last all night long?
Come dance with me
Let’s share love endlessly

Refrain:

Come dance with me
until the sunlight
reveals that our love
will last forever.
Press close to my heart,
Hold me tight in your arms,
and we’ll dance through life together.

Long Night

longnight

(Woman sings):
VERSE
Long night
as I lay here waiting.
Cold Sheets
on your side of our bed.
My heart
with the dawn is breaking.

PRECHORUS
Can it be
that again you’ve left me?

CHORUS (woman sings)
Why do you fear to give your love?
Why do you run and not come close?
Why do you hide yourself inside?
My heart for you is open wide.
In time our love can grow and thrive.

VERSE
Baby,
was it something I said?
Maybe
just a bad dream in my head.
Morning
has brought the truth that I dread.

PRECHORUS
You are gone
And I’m all alone again.

CHORUS (woman sings)
Why do you fear to give your love?
Why do you run and not come close?
Why do you hide yourself inside?
My heart for you is open wide.
In time our love can grow and thrive.

(Man sings)
VERSE
Cold night
On my own, I’m shaking.
My heart
and my mind are aching.
Daylight
through the window breaking.

PRECHORUS
Why have I
Run away from your side?

CHORUS ( man sings) :
Why do I fear to give my love?
Why do I run and not come close?
Why do I hide myself inside?
I want my heart to open wide.
For it’s your love keeps me alive.

VERSE
Baby,
No, it’s nothing you said
Save me
From all these nightmares in my head.
It’s true
apart from you I feel dead.

PRECHORUS
I’ll come home
‘coz I can’t go on alone.

CHORUS (woman and man sing together)
Why do you/I fear to give your/my love?
Why do you/I run and not come close?
Why do you /I hide my/yourself inside?
My heart for you is open wide.
This time our love will grow and thrive.

Dreams in the Windy City

homeless
Don’t give up on love
‘though the world feels cold
And the sharp winds blow right through your bones
Poor and all alone
Men without warm homes
On the lonely streets of Chicago
(refrain)
Hold onto Hope
For one more day
Let dreams carry away
All sorrow and pain
‘til Love comes your way

Hold onto Love
For it just may
Come to meet you today
In my warm embrace
And melt your heart away

People pass you by
Won’t look in your eyes
Please don’t let your heart turn hard as ice
Shiver in the cold
Spend your nights alone
On the lonely streets of Chicago

Someone passes by
Looks you in the eyes
Your hungry soul calls to their heart inside
You give a weary smile
Might stay with you awhile?
On the lonely streets of Chicago

Hold onto Hope
For one more day
Let dreams carry away
All sorrow and pain
‘til Love comes your way

Hold onto Love
For it just may
Come to meet you today
In my warm embrace
And melt your heart away

With Faith Hope & Love

faithhopelove

So many years you’ve been down and out
So long lost you forgot what life is all about
We want to help you
Please don’t shut us out
Don’t shut us out
Don’t shut us out.
(Refrain)
‘cause with faith, hope, love,
Things will get better
You’re not alone
We’re in this together
For with faith, hope and love
your life can be changed.

Slide to the bottom then you’d turn around
No one but you could know the day you’d let yourself be found
But now you’re with us
And love is all around
Our love is all around
Love’s all around.

Now you have cast away the binds that tie
That old Snake he had wrapped his lies around your mind
But hope is living
And so you can thrive
You’re now alive
Fully alive

Now that your true self has been restored
You can help others find their life is worth much more
Than empty bottles and needle scars
For faith brings power
To win ev’ry war
And faith gives pow’r
To vanquish ev’ry foe.

It’s Just You and Me

It’s just you and me babe,
now the children are grown
And we’re on our own,
yet we still have our song.

We’ve played it together
Throughout all of these years
Our hearts’ beat to its drum and
We can still sing along

And although we are much older now
We still know how to dance
And can make the romance last.

Moonlight Blues

Moon on high
Do you see me cry
Walking here tonight on my own
Under the sky?

My mood is low
I feel so all alone,
Yet the lovely glow of your light
Consoles my soul.

For you keep me company,
Through the long cold night
And you warm my heart within
By your magical light.
Stay with me until the morning light.

These are your Yester-years

Why are you rushing towards the future?
Why are you running at top speed?
Why don’t you stop and see around you?
Why look back to where you’ve been?
These are your yester-years.
Don’t let them fly away.

These are your yester-years
of days gone by – today.
Live in the present moment.
Give in the present day
Then all your fears and worries fade away.

What use is running in the rat race?
Why keep on spinning on the wheel?
You know you feel your life is empty.
You can change and make it real.

These are your yester-years
of days gone by – today.
Go and serve your brother
Help him on his way,
Do good and love another in this day.

I Believe in You

We’re walking life together
We’ve come a long, long way
We’ve had hard times and many troubles
And yet this love of ours remains

For I believe in you
Yes I believe in you
You’ve proved your love is true
By all the good things that you do

In travelling life together
We’ve sometimes lost our way
We’ve faced our share of trials
Yet been sustained by God’s good grace

For I believe in you
Yes I believe in you
You’ve proved your love is true
By all the good things that you do

Let’s run this race together
So as to win the prize
We’ll pass through love’s deep selfless valleys
To reach the joys of mountains high.

For I believe in you
Yes I believe in you
You’ve proved your love is true
By all the good things that you do

Never Too Late

It is never too late
to return to your dreams
Even though the time has passed
And they seem far from real
They remain deep within your heart
And you only need to feel
They are there
If you dare
To believe
For you only need to start
They all may come true
If you just open your heart
They’re waiting for you

Even though the years have passed
And life seems near to an end
There’s still time for you to find
That dreams can still be fulfilled
They remain deep within in your heart
And you only need to feel
They are there
If you dare to Believe

Mother

Verse:
Mother, you amaze me
By your bravery
As you carry your own cross
Striding forward, pressing on

Verse:
Mother, you’re my model
In this time of strife
You’ve made every sacrifice
And you’ve done this your whole life

Chorus:
Do you know I love you?
Saints like you are too few
There’s nothing you can’t do
Mother I love you

Verse:
Mother, you’re my hero
Giving even though
You are weary to the bone
Handling all things on your own

Verse:
Mother, you’re my idol
Facing every trial
While you hold your head up high
With your kind and radiant smile

Chorus:
Do you know I love you?
Saints like you are too few
There’s nothing you can’t do
Mother I love you

Bridge:
Mother, you’re a treasure
Precious beyond words
All things valuable on earth
Can’t add up to what your worth

Chorus:
Do you know I love you?
Saints like you are too few
There’s nothing you can’t do
Mother I love you

Spring Will Come

After the long lonely winter
Spring will come to your heart
Seeds of love will start growing
From earth so cold and dark

You can love again
You can live again
You can begin again
To feel hope
Rising in your heart
Time has a way of healing
wounds that are deep and raw
As nighttime is always followed
By the breaking of the dawn

You can love again
You can live again
You can begin again
To feel hope
Rising in your heart

Nature’s own consolation
For hearts broken in life
Seasons follow on seasons
Day comes after night

You can love again
You can live again
You can begin again
To feel hope
Rising in your heart

Remembrance

Come all and render to those brave souls
Your love and your gratitude
For they with courage did persevere,
(and) purchased freedom for you.

Let no one hold in disrespect
These martyrs of pure love
Who sacrificed their blood and lives
And gained glory above

Hail defenders of our nation,
Under God and liberty
We salute your holy offering
For our lives and great country

To lands both near and so far away
America’s children went
Bringing the flame of truth and right
to places they’d been sent.

Leaving all they held most dear to them
Bless’d home and family
To face the night of fright and fear
To guard our freedom here.

Hail defenders of our nation
Under God and liberty
We salute your holy offering
For our lives and great country
